FOR you I compose a harmless hymn, offering Soma to Varuṇa and Indra— A hymn that shines like heavenly Dawn with richness. May they be by our side as we march and protect us.
HERE where the arrows fall amidst the banners, both sides invoke the Gods in rivalry. O Indra-Varuṇa, strike back at our foes, indeed, with your arrows to every quarter.
SELF-luminous in their places, even heavenly Waters endowed with divine power, Varuṇa and Indra. One keeps the people separate and apart, the other strikes down resolute enemies.
WISE be the priest and well-versed in Eternal Law, Who with his sacred gifts and speech brings you aid, Ādityas: may he have food to ensure his well-being.
MAY THIS my song reach Varuṇa and Indra, and, urging strongly, grant me sons and offspring. To the Gods' feast may we go with wealth. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods with blessings.
