Agni! From you, like branches from a tree,

All our blessings spring, swift wealth, great strength,

The heavenly rain we seek, the flowing waters.

You are our Bhaga, sending wealth,

Like the surrounding air, with wondrous light.

Friend of the lofty Law, like Mitra,

God of many blessings, you inspire.

Agni! You slay with might our foes,

The singer takes the plunder, rich in spoils.

By wealth you incite, born in Law,

As you, Sage, stir the Child of Waters.

He who, Son of Strength, with offerings sings,

To the altar draws your fervent flames,

Gains corn and treasure, O God, O Agni.

Grant to men sustenance, fame and heroes,

For you, mighty, give much food to beasts.

Even to the hungry wolf, when hungry.

Eloquent, Son of Strength, Most Mighty, Agni,

Vouchsafe us seed and offspring, full of vigor.

May I by all my songs achieve abundance,

Brave sons fill us with joy for a hundred winters.
