1

Agni, the radiant one who spreads light far and wide, may you accept the sacrifice. You, son of strength, holy one, have spread yourself across the world with the light of Surya.

2

In you, the most wise, Dyaus, let the king and holy one call out the time of worship. Found in three places, like the speeder’s footprints, bring men’s wealth as offerings!

3

Your flame, so splendid, sovereign in the forest, grows brighter as you travel, like the Impeller. You know yourself, like a pure smelter, not to be stopped by the plants, immortal.

4

Our friends praise you like a strong horse in the home, Agni, wielding power like a champion. Fed with soma, you fight with might, like the Sun’s father, praised with offerings.

5

We marvel at your glowing embers as you cut down the woods and burn over the vast earth, Like a swift river, burning quickly, like a guilty thief, over desolate lands.

6

So mighty you protect us from slander, O Champion, Agni! With all fires ignited, Bring prosperity and drive away misfortune. May brave sons make us happy through a hundred winters.
