When the fire is lit and the Sun rises, they share their brilliance. Savitar, the God, has sent us to work, each animal and each two-legged being, to be active.
Not breaking the heavenly laws, even though she diminishes human generations. The last of endless mornings that have passed, the first of those that come, Dawn brightly shines.
In the eastern region, as Heaven’s Daughter, adorned in light, she appears. She truly follows the path of order, and knows well the heavenly quarters.
She is seen near, like the Bright One’s breast; she shows sweet things like a new singer. She comes like a fly waking sleepers, the most true and constant of all returning damsels.
In the eastern half of the watery region, the Mother of the Cows displays her banner. She spreads wider and fills both parents’ laps, ever more.
She, truly, is vast to behold, neither kin nor stranger can escape her light. Proud of her spotless form, she, brightly shining, does not turn from the high nor the humble.
Seeking men, as if without a brother, she mounts her chariot, as if to gather riches. Dawn, like a loving matron for her husband, smiling and well dressed, unmask her beauty.
The younger sister leaves her place for the elder sister, and after looking at her departs. She dresses her beauty, shining with sunlight, like women gathering for a festive meeting.
Each day, a later sister succeeds those who vanished before, just like the past. May the new Dawns shine with happy days, like the past, with riches.
Awaken, Wealthy One, the generous givers; let niggardly traders sleep unawakened. Shine richly, Wealthy One, on those who worship, richly, with joy. Dawn, while wasting, on the singer.
This young maid from the east has shone upon us; she harnesses her team of bright red oxen. She will shine, the light will hasten here, and Agni will be present in every home.
Like birds flying from their resting places, men rise with food stored at your dawning. Yes, to the liberal mortal who stays at home, Goddess Dawn, you bring much good.
May my prayer praise you who should be praised. You have increased our wealth, Dawns
