1

With all our strength and thoughts of power, we glorify you in speech, Agni, dear friend and beloved guest in every home.

2

You are praised by men who serve you with oil like Mitra, presenting gifts and singing songs of praise.

3

Much-lauded Jātavedas, the one who offers sacrifices to the gods, we come to you.

4

We have come to noble Agni, the friend of man and the best Vṛtra-slayer, to the mighty Rksa's son, Srutarvan, who grows great in his presence.

5

We come to the deathless Jātavedas, worthy of praise, adorned with sacred oil, visible through the night’s gloom.

6

We offer this newest hymn to you, Agni, the priestly men worship you with offerings, lifting ladles.

7

O Agni, this hymn is addressed to you from us, cheerful guest, well-born, most wise, worker of wonders, never deceived.

8

May it be dear to you, most grateful, and exceedingly sweet; grow mightier with it.

9

May it be splendid with splendors and add loftier glory to your fame in battles against the foe.

10

Steed, cow, a lord of heroes, bright like Indra, may he fill the chariot.

11

Whose high renown you celebrate, and people praise each glorious deed, hear this call, Holy One, Agni Aṅgiras.

12

May you be such in the fight with foes, as the priestly folk implore you to aid in gathering the spoil.

13

I call to the one who rejoices with song, Srutarvan, Rksa’s son, to stroke the heads of four presented steeds, like the wool of fleecy rams.

14

Four swift horses with a splendid chariot, Savistha’s horses, fleet-footed, shall bring me to the sacred feast, as Tugra’s son was brought.

15

I declare the very truth to you, Paruṣṇī, mighty flood. Waters! No man gives more horses than Savistha.
