1

WE have seen her first light arriving: her many glories part, high apart. On a splendid chariot, bright, journeying here, O Uṣas, bring the wealth that makes us happy.

2

The well-fed fire sings loudly to greet her, and with their songs the priests call her welcome. Uṣas approaches in her splendor, driving all evil darkness far away, the Goddess.

3

Eastward are those lights of Morning, sending out light, as they rise, around them. She has brought forth Sun, sacrifice, and Fire, and far away has fled hated darkness.

4

Rich Daughter of the Sky, we all behold her, indeed, all men see Dawn as she breaks. Flies the chariot that self-harnessed she mounts, the chariot drawn by her well-yoked horses.

5

Inspired with loving thoughts to greet you today, we and our wealthy nobles have awoken. Show yourselves fruitful, Dawns, as you rise. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
