1

Prayers were offered out of love for glory: Vasiṣṭha, honor Indra in battles. He who with power extends across all existence hears the words I, his loyal servant, speak.

2

A cry was raised that reached the Gods, O Indra, a cry to grant us strength in combat. No man knows his own life’s span; protect us safely from our troubles.

3

I harness the Bays, the plunderers, and my prayers reach him who welcomes them gladly. Indra, after slaying invincible foes, forced the two worlds apart with might.

4

Like barren cows, the waters swelled; the song sought your holy rites, O Indra. Come to us as with your team comes Vāyu; you, through our solemn hymns, grant us booty.

5

May these joyous draughts bring you pleasure, Indra, the Mighty, very generous to the singer. Among the Gods alone you pity mortals; Hero, make yourself glad at this libation.

6

Thus the Vasisthas praise with songs Indra, the Powerful whose arm wields thunder. Praised be he to guard our wealth in cattle and heroes. May the Gods ever bless us.
