1

Drink Soma, Lord of Bays, and may it cheer you, Indra, the warrior, like a well-trained horse, Guided by the arms of the presser, you have pressed it.

2

May the draught of joy, your dear companion, bring you delight, O Lord of Bays, as you vanquish foes. May you, Indra, Lord of princely treasures, find pleasure.

3

Listen closely, Maghavan, to the words I speak, this eulogy recited by Vasiṣṭha: Accept these prayers at your banquet.

4

Hear the call of the juice-drinking press-stone; hear the Brahman’s hymn who sings and praises you. Take these adorations to your inner self.

5

I know and never forget the hymns and praises of you, the Conqueror, and your eternal strength. Your name I always utter. Self-Refulgent.

6

Many are your libations among mankind, and many times the pious sage invokes you. O Maghavan, be not far away from us.

7

All these libations are for you, Hero: I offer these prayers that strengthen me. Ever, in every place, must men invoke you.

8

Men never attain your greatness, Wonder-Worker, Mighty One, who must be praised, Nor, Indra, your heroic power and bounty.

9

Among all Rishis, Indra, both ancient and recent, who have composed sacred songs, May we share your auspicious friendships, ye Gods, ever blessed.
