1

Sing these hymns to welcome the Mighty One, with adoration and praise invoke Parjanya. The Bull, roaring loudly, swiftly sends his bounty, sowing seeds in plants for growth.

2

He strikes apart the trees, he slays the demons; all life fears him who wields the mighty weapon. From him, exceeding strong, even the innocent bear guilt, when thundering Parjanya strikes the wicked.

3

Like a coachman driving his horses, he makes the rain messengers spring forward. Far off roars the lion's roar, as Parjanya fills the sky with rain clouds.

4

Winds burst forth, lightning flashes fall; plants shoot up, the realm of light flows. Abundant food sprouts for all living beings, as Parjanya moistens the earth.

5

You to whom the earth bows low, at your command the hooved cattle flee in fear. You to whom plants assume all colors, even you Parjanya, grant us great protection.

6

Send down the heaven rain for us, O Maruts, and let the Stallion's flood descend in torrents. Come here with thunder as you pour the waters down, our heavenly Lord and Father.

7

Thunder and roar: deposit the life germ. Fly around us on your water-laden chariot. Draw with you the open water-skin downward, and make the hollows and heights level.

8

Lift up the mighty vessel, pour down water, and let the free-flowing streams rush forward. Saturate both earth and sky with abundance, and for the cows have abundant drink.

9

When you, with thunder and roar, Parjanya, strike down sinners, This universe rejoices, indeed all that is on earth.

10

You have poured down the rain-flood now withhold it. You have made deserts fit for travel. You have made herbs grow for our enjoyment: indeed you have earned praise from living beings.
