1

Like a swift horse, my mind conceived thoughts akin to a craftsman. Seeking what is most dear and noble, I yearn to meet the wise, full of knowledge.

2

Ask of the wise, mighty generations, steadfast and devout, they fashioned the heavens. These are your heartfelt desires, and they have become the upholders of the sky.

3

In this world, they endowed mysterious natures, adorned the heavens and earth for high dominion, Measuring them with measures, setting wide expanses, dividing the great worlds firmly for safety.

4

As he ascended, they adorned him: self-luminous, he travels in splendor. That is the Bull’s, the Asura’s mighty form: he, all-form, has reached the eternal waters.

5

First, the ancient Bull gave birth to offspring; these are his many draughts that gave him strength. From days of old, you Kings, two Sons of Heaven, by sacrificial hymns won dominion.

6

You Sovereigns, three seats in the Holy assembly, many, indeed, all, honor you with your presence. There, in spirit, I saw Gandharvas in their course with wind-blown hair.

7

That same companionship of hers, the Cow, with the strong Bull’s diverse forms, they established. Endowing still some new celestial form, skilled workers shaped a form around him.

8

May no one here bar me from enjoying the golden light that Savitar diffuses. He covers all-fostering worlds with praise, even as a mother cherishes her children.

9

Fulfill, you two, his work, the Great, the Ancient: as heavenly blessing, keep watch over us. All the wise Gods behold his varied actions, standing erect, whose voice is like a herdsman’s.

10

Call upon Indra, Maghavan, auspicious, best Hero in the fight where spoils are gathered, The Strong, who listens, who aids in battles, who slays the Vṛtras, wins and gathers riches.
