1

IMMORTAL Jātavedas, you radiant offering-bearer, today bring the Gods to him who offers sacrifices.

2

You are the messenger and beloved messenger, the charioteer of sacrifice: Grant us heroic strength and lofty fame, O Aśvins and Dawn.

3

We choose you, Agni, the good one whom many love, Smoke-bannered, spreading light at the break of day, at sacrificial rites.

4

Noblest and most youthful, dear to those who offer gifts, Gentle Agni, Jātavedas, I pray you bring the Gods to us at dawn.

5

I will glorify you, Agni, immortal sustainer of the world, Deathless offering-bearer, fit for sacred food, preserver, best at sacrifice.

6

Tell your praiser good things, O most youthful God, richly worshipped, honey-tongued, And, granting Praskaṇva long life, honor the Heavenly Host.

7

Agni, kindle us as possessor and Priest, all invoked, So Agni, much-invoked, bring the Gods with all speed to us.

8

At dawn and night, Uṣas and Savitar, the Aśvins, Bhaga, Agni himself: Skilled in fair rites, with Soma poured, light thee, oblation-waving God.

9

Agni, Lord of sacrifice and messenger of men, bring the Gods who wake at dawn, who see the light, to drink the Soma juice.

10

You shine forth, Agni, after former dawns, all visible, rich in light. You are our help in battle, the Friend of man, great high priest in sacrifice.

11

Like Manu, we will establish you, Agni, performer of the rite, Invoker, ministering Priest, wise and swift, immortal messenger.

12

As the Gods' High Priest, beloved by many, you fulfill their mission as their closest friend, Then, like the far-reaching waves of the flood, let your flames roar aloud.

13

Hear, Agni, with ears to hear, all your divine retinue; Let Mitra, Aryaman, seek our rite, seat them on the sacred grass.

14

Let those who support Law, generous givers, life-tongued Maruts, hear our praise. May Law-supporting Varuṇa, with the Aśvins, drink the Soma juice.
