FOR Indra, let Soma flow, as sweetest nectar, wise and intelligent,

Great, cheering, dwelling in heaven.

Thou, when you drink the Cow, act like a Cow. Drinking this that shines with light,

He, Most Wise, comes to nourishing food, spoil and wealth like Etaśa.

For truly, Pavamana, splendidest, called all the generations of

The Gods to immortality.

By whom Dadhyac Navagva opens fastened doors, by whom the sages gain their wish,

By whom they win the fame of lovely Amṛta in the gods' felicity.

Effused, he flows in a stream, best at giving rapture, in the wool of sheep,

Sporting, as if the waves of water.

Who from rocky caverns took the red-glorious Cows with might,

You master the stable full of kine and steeds; burst it, brave Lord, like one in mail.

Press and pour him, like a steed, worthy, through the region and the flood,

Who swims in water, roams in wood;

Increaser of the water, Steer with thousand streams, dear to the Deity race:

Born under Law, mighty by Law, King, God, and lofty Ordinance.

Make splendid glory shine on us, thou Lord of nourishing food, God, as Friend of Deities:

Unclose the fountain of middle air.

Roll onward to the bowls, O Mighty One, effused, as Prince supporter of tribes,

Pour on us rain from heaven, send us the waters' flow: incite our thoughts to win spoil.

They have drained the Cow of heaven, him with a thousand streams, distilling rapturous joy,

Him who brings all things excellent.

The Mighty One was born Immortal, giving life, lightening darkness with his shine.

Well-praised by sages he has, by his wondrous power assuming the Threefold as his robe.

Effused is he who brings good things, who brings us bounteous gifts and sweet refreshment,

Soma who brings us quiet homes.

He whom our Indra and the Marut host shall drink, Bhaga shall drink with Aryarnan,

By whom we bring to us Mitra and Varuṇa and Indra for our great defense.

Soma, for Indra’s drink lead by men, well-armed and most gladdening,

Flow on with greatest store of sweets.
