1

INDRA, the poets sing of you in their hymns. They strengthen you with their songs, bestowing your oil-dropping power.

2

With devotion, the Pauras come to you for help, offering libations that bring you joy. As you rejoiced with Krishna and Samvarta, may you be glad with us.

3

All Deities agree in spirit; come near to us. Vasus and Rudras will come to aid us, and Maruts, hear our call.

4

May Pūṣan, Viṣṇu, and Sarasvatī befriend us, and the Seven Streams, listen to our plea: May Waters, Wind, the Mountains, and the Forest-Lord, and Earth hear our cry.

5

INDRA, with your generous gift, most generous of the mighty ones, Be our boon benefactor, slayer of Vṛtra, be our companion at feasts.

6

Leader of heroes, Lord of battle, lead us into combat, most wise one. High fame is won by invoking, feasting, and entertaining the gods.

7

Our hopes rest on the Faithful One; in Indra lies the people’s life. O Maghavan, come near that you may aid us; make plenteous food flow for us.

8

We worship you, Indra, with our praises: O Śatakratu, be ours. Pour down upon Praskaṇva abundant bounty, firm and rich, that never fails.
