1

That noblest Yajna has appeared, to whom men offer their sacred rites. Our praises rise high to Agni, who gives strength to the Aryas.

2

Agni, of Divodāsa, turned with majesty toward the Devas. He travels across the Earth Mother and reaches the heights of heaven.

3

Before him, people shrink in awe when he performs his glorious deeds, He wins thousands at the worship of the Devas, serving Agni himself.

4

The mortal man you wish to lead to prosperity, O Vasu, he who brings you gifts. He, Agni, earns himself a hero, singing praises, feeding a thousand men.

5

With his steed, he wins spoils even in fortified forts, gaining eternal fame. In you, O Lord of wealth, we continually lay precious offerings to the Devas.

6

To him who distributes all wealth, who is the cheerful Priest of men, To him, like the first vessels filled with savory juice, go the praises of Agni.

7

Votaries, richly-gifted, deck him with their songs, even as the chariot's horse. On both, Strong Lord of men! On child and grandson pour the blessings nobles give.

8

Sing to him, the Holy, most generous, sublime with his radiant glow, To Agni, ye Upastutas.

9

Enkindled, splendid, Maghavan shall win heroic fame, and his new kindness will bring abundance. And will not his newly shown kindness come to us with great strength?

10

Priest, presser of the juice! Praise now the dear guest of all our friends, Agni, the driver of the chariots.

11

Who finds treasures open and hidden, brings them here, Holy One; Whose waves, like a waterfall, are hard to pass, when he wins strength through song.

12

May not the noble Guest, Agni, be angry with us? Many sing his praise. Good Herald, skilled in sacrifice.

13

O Vasu, Agni, do not harm those who come with praises to you, Even the humble, skilled in rites, with offerings, seek you for the envoy's task.

14

Friend of the Maruts, Agni, come with Rudras to the Soma-drink, To Sobhar's fair song of praise, and be joyful in the light.
