Sing a Sāma hymn to Indra, a lofty song to the Sage, To him who guards the Law, inspired, and seeks praise.
You, Indra, are the Conqueror; you gave splendor to the Sun. Maker of all things, you are Mighty and All-God.
Radiant with light, you went to the sky, the luminous realm of heaven. With Deities, Indra strove to win you as their friend.
Come to us, O Indra, dear, still conquering, unhidden, Vast as a mountain spread on all sides, Lord of Heaven.
O truthful Soma-drinker, you are mightier than both the worlds. You strengthen him who pours libation, Lord of Heaven.
For you are he, O Indra, who storms all foes' castles, Slayer of Dasyus, man's Supporter, Lord of Heaven.
Now we, Indra, Friend of Song, send our great wishes to you, Like floods that follow floods.
As rivers swell the ocean, so, Hero, our prayers increase your might, Though of yourself, O Thunderer, growing day by day.
With holy song, bind to the broad, wide-yoked chariot the swift, rapid God’s Bay Steeds, Bearers of Indra, yoked by word.
Bring great strength to us, bring valor, Śatakratu, most active, Bring a hero conquering in war.
For gracious Śatakratu, you have always been a Mother and a Sire to us, Now for bliss we pray to you.
To you, Strong, Much-invoked, who show forth your strength, O Śatakratu, Grant us heroic strength.
