1

Offer praise to Indra, the one he delights in, the Soma-bearer. The Soma-bearers sing his mighty power with hymns. Good are the gifts he gives.

2

Alone among leaders, without a companion, impetuous and unmatched, He has grown great among many people, indeed, over all that was born, in might.

3

Lord of swift bounty, he will win even with a worthless horse. This, Indra, tell of you who do heroic deeds.

4

Come to us hither; let us pay devotion to enhance your might, For which, Most Powerful! you would bless the man striving for fame.

5

You make the bold spirit bolder, Indra, who serves strong Soma with reverence. With strong Soma, he looks down like a man looking into wells.

6

Pleased with the Soma-bearer’s skill, he makes him his mate and friend.

7

All the gods yield to you in strength and wisdom, Indra. Be the protector of all, O one praised by many.

8

Praised be your might, Indra, best for the gods' service, That you with power slay Vṛtra, O Lord of Strength.

9

He makes mankind’s races like the Synod of Beauty. Indra knows this manifest deed and is renowned.

10

Your might, Indra, at its birth, you and your mental prowess, In your care, Maghavan rich in cattle! They have greatly increased.

11

O Vṛtra-slayer, we two will combine for spoils. Even malignity will agree, O Hero with the bolt!

12

Let us extol this Indra as truthful and never untruthful. Dire is the death of one who does not offer gifts, good are the gifts Indra gives.
