COMPANIONS, let us learn a hymn to Indra. He has thunderous arms,
To glorify your bold and most heroic Friend.
For you by slaying Vṛtra are the Vṛtra-slayer, famed for might. You, Hero, in rich gifts surpass wealthy chiefs.
As such, when glorified, bring us riches of very wondrous fame, Set in the highest rank, Wealth-giver, Lord of Bays!
Yes, Indra, you disclose that preeminent wealth of men: Boldly, O Bold One, glorified, bring it to us.
The workers of destruction stay neither your right hand nor your left: Nor hosts that press about you, Lord of Bays, in fight.
Oh Thunder-armed, I come with songs to you as to a stall with kine: Fulfill the wish and thought of him who sings your praise.
Chief Vṛtra-slayer, through the hymn of Visvamanas think of all, All that concerns us, Excellent, Mighty Guide.
May we, O Vṛtra-slayer, O Hero, find this your newest boon, Desired, and excellent, you who are much invoked!
Oh Indra, Dancer, Much-invoked! As your great power is unsurpassed, So be your bounty to the worshipper unchecked.
Most Mighty, most heroic One, for mighty bounty fill you full. Though strong, strengthen yourself to win wealth, Maghavan!
Oh Thunderer, never have our prayers gone forth to any God but you: So help us, Maghavan, with your assistance now.
For, Dancer, truly I find none else for bounty, saving you, For splendid wealth and power, you Lover of the Song.
For Indra, pour out the drops blended with Soma let him drink With bounty and with majesty will he further us.
I spoke to the Bay Coursers' Lord, to him who gives ability: Now hear the son of Asva as he praises you.
Never was any Hero born before you mightier than you: None surely like you in goodness and in wealth.
Oh ministering priest, pour out of the sweet juice what gladdens most: So is the Hero praised who ever prospers us.
Indra, whom Tawny Coursers bear, praise such as yours, preeminent, None by his power or
