1

Where Heaven and Earth meet in men’s assembly, and those who love the gods delight in sacrifice, There are poured libations for Indra, may he come first to drink and make him strong.

2

We seek the heavenly grace of the gods to protect us—may Brihaspati, oh friends, elevate us, That he, the generous god, finds us blessed, giving from afar like a father.

3

May I honor Brahmaṇaspati, most high and gracious, with offerings and homage. May the divine praise song reach Indra, king of prayers, creator of the gods.

4

May that Brihaspati, bringing all blessings, most dear, be seated by our altar. Heroes and wealth we seek; may he grant them and keep us safe from those who vex us.

5

To us, these immortal ones, born erst, has given this praise we offer, pleasing the Immortals. Invoke Brihaspati, the invincible, the clear-voiced god, the holy one of homes.

6

Him, this Brihaspati, his red-hued horses, drawing near, full of strength, bring here. Dressed in red like clouds, they carry the mighty lord, friend of friendship, giving shelter.

7

He is pure, with a hundred wings, radiant, with golden sword, impetuous, winning sunlight. Sublime Brihaspati, easy to approach, grant your friends most bountiful refreshment.

8

Both Heaven and Earth, divine parents, have made Brihaspati grow in grandeur. Honor him, oh friends, who deserves glory: give fair way and easy passage.

9

This, Brahmaṇaspati, is your praise, made to thunder-wielding Indra. Favor our songs, awaken our thoughts and spirit: destroy the godless and malice of our foes.

10

You two are lords of wealth in heaven and earth, you, oh Brihaspati, and you, oh Indra. Though he be mean, give wealth to him who praises you. Evermore, preserve us, gods, with blessings.
