1

To all people, auspicious Surya, he who sees everything, is rising upward; The God, the eye of Varuṇa and Mitra, who rolled up darkness like a piece of leather.

2

Surya’s great banner, restless like the wave, that urges men to action, is advancing: Onward he still rolls the well-rounded wheel, which Etaśa, harnessed to the car-pole, moves.

3

Radiant from the breast of the Mornings, he to whom singers take delight ascends. This Savitar, God, is my chief joy and pleasure, who does not break the universal law.

4

Golden, far-sighted, from the sky he rises: far is his goal, he moves resplendently. People, truly, inspired by Surya, they move towards their goals and complete their tasks.

5

Where the immortal beings have prepared his path, he flies through the region like a falcon. With homage and offerings, we will serve you, O Mitra-Varuṇa, when the Sun rises.

6

Now Mitra, Varuṇa, Aryaman grant us freedom and space, for us and for our children. May we find paths all fair and good to travel. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
