1

O Varuna and Mitra, Surya spreads the radiant light of you two gods. He who sees all living beings watches well the zeal in mortal hearts.

2

The wise sage, renowned far and wide, prays to you, O Varuna and Mitra— May your sagely hearts favor his devotion, so that it fills his seasons with might.

3

From the vast earth, O Varuna and Mitra, from the high sky, you, Generous Givers, Guard the fields and homes, visiting everywhere without cease.

4

I praise the might of Varuna and Mitra, that might which, by its might, keeps both worlds apart. Without heroes, pass the months of the ungodly; he who loves sacrifice makes his home enduring.

5

All steers are sure in your people, where no wonder is seen, no worship. Guile follows close behind the untruthful; none can hide secrets from your knowledge.

6

I will honor your sacrifice with reverence; as priest, I invoke you, Mitra-Varuna. May these new hymns and prayers I've crafted bring you joy, for the benefit of the singer.

7

Gods! Varuna and Mitra! This priestly task has been done for you at sacrifices. Protect us safely through every danger. With blessings, evermore, be with us, gods.
