Strong, divine Indra, born for heroic deeds, friend to men, do as you will. Saving us even from great sins, Indra, Youthful, visits homes with favor.
Indra, waxing great, slays Vṛtra; the Hero aids the singer with his might. He gave Sudās ample space and often grants wealth to those who offer sacrifices.
Unchecked soldier, stirring war, undefeated Hero, ever victorious, Indra, the very strong, scattered armies; he slew each foe who dared to fight.
You, with your greatness, fill both worlds with might, O Indra, Most Mighty Lord. Lord of Bays, Indra, wielding thunder, is pleased with Soma at the feast.
A Bull begot the Bull for battle’s joy, and a strong Mother bore the manly one. He who leads men, their army’s leader, is a strong Hero, bold, and eager for plunder.
People do not falter, nor suffer sorrow, who win this God’s terrifying spirit. He who worships Indra with offerings is lord of wealth, born of law and its protector.
When the elder helps the younger, the greater comes to the lesser’s aid. Should the Immortal sit aloof, inactive? O Wondrous Indra, bring us wondrous riches.
Your dear folk, Indra, who offer sacrifices, are, in chief place, your friends, Thunder-wielder. May we be best content in your favor, sheltered by One who does not harm, but protects us.
To you, the mighty hymn has clamored loudly, and the eloquent has beseeched you, Maghavan. Desire of wealth has come upon your singer; help us then, gakra, to our share of riches.
Place us by the food you have given, O Indra, us and the wealthy patrons who command us. Let your great power bring good to him who praises you. May the Gods preserve us evermore with blessings.
