1

Great Agni, you are the herald of sacrifice: without you, the immortal gods do not rejoice. Come here with all the deities around you, sit down as the first priest, O Agni.

2

Men offer sacrifices to you, swift one, to be your envoy and undertake the duty. To him, O Agni, whose sacred grass we share with the gods, the days are favorable.

3

You show the gifts sent for the mortal who offers them three times a day in you. Bring the gods here like a man, O Agni; be our envoy, protecting us from curses.

4

Agni, lord of the high sacrifice, Agni is lord of every gift presented. The Vasus were pleased by his wisdom, so the gods made him their bearer of offerings.

5

O Agni, bring the gods to taste our offerings; with Indra leading, make them joyful here. Convey this sacrifice to the gods in heaven. May the gods always protect us with blessings.
