1

NE’ER does the man regret, who seeks profit by bringing his gift to the far-reaching Viṣṇu. He who worships him with all his heart wins such a great benefactor.

2

Thou, Viṣṇu, steadfast in thy ways, gave goodwill to all men, and a hymn that endures, That thou mightst make us prosperous, rich with horses and wealth of splendid abundance.

3

This God strode three times in all his glory across this bright earth, adorned with a hundred splendors. Foremost be Viṣṇu, mightier than the mightiest: for his name is glorious, one who lives forever.

4

Across this earth with mighty stride strode Viṣṇu, ready to give it as a home to Manu. In him the humble trust for safety; he, noble-born, has made them spacious dwellings.

5

Today I praise this name, O gipivista, I, skilled in rules, the name of thee the Noble. Yes, I, the poor and weak, praise thee the Mighty who dwell beyond this region.

6

What was there to blame in thee, O Viṣṇu, when thou saidst, "I am Sipivista"? Do not hide this form from us, nor keep it secret, since thou worest another shape in battle.

7

O Viṣṇu, let my lips cry Vaṣaṭ! Let this offering, Sipivista, please thee. May these my songs of praise exalt thee. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
