1

Indra, bring this most effective power of yours, the mightiest one, That conquers people for us and wins the spoils, unbeatable in battle.

2

Indra, whatever helps you have, whether four or three or five tribes, Bring all that aid quickly to us, Hero, for the sake of victory.

3

The best aid of you, the Mightiest One, we call hither, for you were born With heroic might, conquering, Indra, with the strong.

4

You were born mighty to support us, and you have mighty strength. Your soul is firm in native power; your valor, Indra, defeats an army.

5

O Śatakratu, Lord of Strength, O Indra, Stone-Caster. With all your chariot’s force, attack the man who shows himself your enemy.

6

For the Mightiest Vṛtra-slayer, you, fierce and foremost among many, Whose sacred grass is trimmed, invite to battle where the spoils are won.

7

Indra, protect our chariot that leads the way in every fight, Invincible and seeking spoils, it bears its part in every fray.

8

Come to us, Indra, and protect our chariot with your wisdom. May we, O Mightiest One, gain excellent fame at sunrise and meditate our hymn.
