1

Approach us on your chariot, Soma drink from times past; loosen the sacred grass for our guests. Bring us your dear companions, the ones who offer sacrifice. These men call you here.

2

Come, True Friend, past many people; come with your two fine horses to our devotion. For these hymns call to you, O Indra, songs made for praise, seeking your friendship.

3

With your fine horses, Indra, God, come quickly to this sacrifice that raises worship; With my thoughts, offering oil to feed you, I call you to the sweet libation feast.

4

Let your two fine horses carry you here, strong and good to draw, dear companions. With the blended offering we bring, may Indra, Friend, hear his friend’s adoration.

5

Will you not make me guardian of the people, make me, impetuous Maghavan, their ruler? Make me a Rishi who has drunk Soma? Will you not give me wealth that lasts forever?

6

Yoke your chariot, lead your tall Bays, Indra, companions of your feast, carry you here, Those from old who press to heaven’s farthest limits, the Bull’s impetuous and well-groomed horses.

7

Drink the strong Soma pressed by strong ones, Indra, that which the Falcon brought you when you longed; In whose wild joy you stir up the people, in whose wild joy you opened the cow-stalls.

8

We call to Indra, Makhavan, auspicious, best Hero in the battle where spoils are gathered; The Strong who listens, who gives aid in battles, who slays the Vṛtras, wins and gathers riches.
