1

This is the Agni from which Indra took the pressed Soma deep within his body. Winner of spoils in thousands, like a horse, with praise you are exalted, Jātavedas.

2

That light of yours in heaven and earth, Agni, in plants, Holy One, and in the waters, With which you spread wide the air’s mid-region, bright, wavy, man-looking.

3

You go to the sea of heaven, Agni; you have called here the gods seen in spirit. The waters, too, come here, those above in the Sun’s realm of light, and those below.

4

May fires dwelling in mist, combined with those that have their home in floods, Accept our sacrifice, great viands free from all disease.

5

Agni, as holy food, give wealth in cattle, lasting, rich in wonders. May we be born a son and spreading offspring. Agni, may this be your gracious will to us.
