1

In the great assembly, I will praise your two radiant horses: I cherish the sweet, strong nectar of you, the Warrior-God, Who pours fragrant oil as if with golden drops. May my songs enter you, whose form has golden hues.

2

You who sing together in harmony to the golden place, like radiant horses galloping towards the celestial seat, Praise Indra with strength allied to Tawny Horses, praise him who contented cows as if with golden drops.

3

It is yours that thunderbolt, iron-hoofed, golden-hued, golden-colored, very dear, and yellow in your grasp; Bright with sharp teeth, destroying with your tawny fury. In Indra are fixed all forms of golden hue.

4

As if a lovely beam were laid upon the sky, the golden thunderbolt spreads out in a race. That iron bolt with yellow jaws struck Ahira down. A thousand flames were borne by the tawny-hued one.

5

You, you, when praised by those who sacrificed long ago, had pleasure in their praises, O Indra with golden hair. All that befits your song of praise you welcome, the perfect pleasant gift, O Golden-hued from birth.

6

These two dear horses bring Indra on his chariot, Thunder-armed, joyful, fit for praise, to drink his fill. Many libations flow for him who loves them: the golden Soma juices run for Indra.

7

Those golden drops have flowed to satisfy your wish: the yellow drops urge the swift horses to speed. He who rides with the horses as he pleases has satisfied his longing for the golden drops.

8

At the swift draught, the Soma drinker grows mighty, the Iron One with yellow beard and yellow hair. He, Lord of Tawny Horses, Lord of swift-footed mares, will bear his horses safely through all distress.

9

His yellow jaws, like ladles, part as he strengthens the yellow-tinted stirrups. When, while the bowl stands there, he tends his Tawny Horses, when he drinks the strong, sweet juice he loves.

10

To the Dear One’s seat in heavens and on earth, the Horse Lord neighs like a horse for food. Then the great wish seizes him mightily, and the Beloved One gains high power of life.

11

You, encompassing with your might the earth and heaven, accept this dear hymn anew and ever.
