1

O Agni, shared by all, bring us good luck for the sacrifice from earth and heaven. May you be our wise guide, WonderWorker! Protect us, God, with your far-reaching blessings.

2

These hymns we bring for you, O Agni, praise you for your generous gifts, with cattle and horses. Good Lord, when a man gains enjoyment from you, by these hymns, O noble-born, does he obtain it.

3

I consider Agni my kin and father, my brother and friend forever. I honor him as the face of Agni in heaven, the bright and holy light of Surya.

4

Our prayers are effective, Agni, for profit. You, who guard the priest at home forever, are rich in food, drawn by red steeds, and holy. To him, all days and nights will be pleasant.

5

Men with their arms have made Agni, helpful as a kind friend, adorned with splendor. They have established the ancient priest as the sacrifice’s lover, invoker among the people.

6

Worship, yourself, O God, the gods in heaven. What, without knowledge, can the fool avail you? As you, O God, worship the gods by seasons, so, nobly born! Pay worship to yourself.

7

Be our guardian and protector, Agni, bestow upon us life and vitality. Accept, O Mighty One, the gifts we offer, and with constant care protect our bodies.
