I sing your glory, Maghavan, through your Might, you invoked the heavens and earth in fear,

You aided the gods, and quelled the power of Dāsas, when you fostered many a race, O Indra.

When you roamed, Indra, growing strong in body, telling your might among the people,

All that men called your battles were illusions: no foe you have today, nor ever had one.

Who are the Rishis now, who comprehended before our time the limits of your greatness?

For from your body you have born both Mother and Father at the same time.

You, Mighty One, have four supreme natures, Asura forms that never can be harmed.

All these, O Maghavan, you surely know, with which you have accomplished your great deeds.

You possess all treasures in your sole keeping, both manifest and hidden treasures.

Do not delay, O Maghavan, my desire: you are the Director, Indra, the Giver.

To him who lit the light in things of splendor, and blended all with sweet essence,

This hymn of welcome has been sung by Bṛhaduktha, who honors Indra.
