1

O King, the powerful and awe-inspiring messenger, kindled for strength, is manifest in beauty. He shines, all-knowing, with his lotta brilliance: chasing dark Night he comes with white-rayed Dawn.

2

Having overcome the shimmering Dark with beauty, and bringing forth the Great Sire’s daughter, With radiant light of Surya, as heaven’s envoy, he shines with treasures.

3

Attendant on the Blessed Lady, the Blessed has come: the Lover follows his sister. Agni, spreading far with conspicuous radiance, has surrounded Night with whitely shining garments.

4

His coming kindles as if with high voices the coming of the auspicious Friend of Agni. The rays, the bright beams of the strong-jawed, mighty, adorable Bull are visible as he approaches.

5

Whose radiant splendor flows, like sounds, around us, the one who is lofty, brilliant, and effulgent, Who reaches heaven with best and brightest splendors, playful and piercing even to the summit.

6

His powers, whose chariot’s reins gleam and glitter, have loudly roared as if with teams, hastening. He, the most divine, far-reaching envoy, shines with ancient, resonant, whitely shining flames.

7

So bring us abundant wealth: seat yourself as envoy of the two youthful Matrons, Earth and Heaven. Let Agni swiftly with his swift horses, impetuous with impetuous Steeds, come here.
