1

Victorious in the forest, friend among men, he claims obedience as a king. Gracious like peace, blessed like mental strength, priest was he, bearer of offerings, full of thought.

2

He, holding all manly might in his hand, crouched in the cave and struck the gods with fear. Men filled with understanding find him there, when they form prayers within their hearts.

3

Like the Unborn, he holds the broad earth aloft; with effective speech he fixed the sky. O Agni, protect the places cattle love: you, life of all, have gone from pasture to pasture.

4

He who knows him in his lair and approaches the holy law's stream— Those who release him, performing sacred rites—true to them he announces great wealth.

5

He who grows mighty in herbs, within each fruitful mother and each babe she bears, Wise, life of all men, in the waters' home—sages have built as if a seat for him.
