1

The other fires are, indeed, your branches; the Immortals all rejoice in you, O Agni. You are the center, Vaiśvānara, of the people, supporting men like a deeply rooted pillar.

2

The forehead of the sky, the earth’s center, Agni became the messenger between earth and heaven. Vaiśvānara, the Deities created you, a God, to be a light for the Arya.

3

Like the eternal rays in the Sun, treasures are in Vaiśvānara, and in Agni. Among all riches in the hills, waters, and herbs, you are the supreme one.

4

As the great halves of the world, so are their praises; skilled, as a man, to act, is he the Herald. Vaiśvānara, celestial, truly mighty, most manly One, has many youthful consorts.

5

Even the lofty heavens, O Jātavedas Vaiśvānara, have not reached your greatness. You are the King of lands where men dwell, bringing comfort to the gods in battle.

6

Now I will tell the greatness of the hero followed by Pūru’s sons as the slayer of Vṛtra: Agni Vaiśvānara defeated the Dasyu, pierced Śambara, and shattered his fortifications.

7

Vaiśvānara, living by your might with all men, shining far and holy among the Bharadvājas, Is praised, excellent, with a hundred praises by Purūṇītha, son of Śatavani.
