We will offer sweet praise to the Great One, our hymns to Indra in Vivasvan’s abode; For he has never found wealth among those who pretend to sleep: those who share wealth with men receive no small praise.
Giver of horses, Indra, giver, you of cows, giver of barley, you are Lord and guardian of wealth: Helper of men since old, not failing in hope, Friend of our friends, we sing this praise to you.
Indra, most splendid, powerful, rich in great deeds, this treasure spread around is yours alone. Bring it here, O Conqueror, and grant us hope: do not let the one who loves and sings to you be disappointed.
Welcome these bright flames and these Soma drops, take away our poverty with seeds and cattle. With Indra scattering the Dasyus through these drops, may we be free from their hatred and gain abundant food.
May we obtain, O Indra, plentiful wealth and food, with strength surpassing glory, shining to the sky: May we obtain the Goddess Providence, the strength of heroes, the special source of cattle, rich in horses.
These our libations, inspiring strength, Soma draughts, cheered you in the fight against Vṛtra, Hero Lord, When you slew for the singer ten thousand Vṛtras, you were invincible in your might.
You go from battle to battle fearlessly, destroying fort after fort here with strength. You, Indra, with your friend who makes the foe bow down, slew the cunning Namuci from afar.
You struck down in death Karañja, Parṇaya, in Atithigva’s glorious departure. Unyielding, when Rishiswan surrounded them with siege, you destroyed the hundred forts of Vanggrida.
With your chariot wheel that outstrips all, O Indra, far-famed, you overthrew the twice ten kings of men, With sixty thousand nine hundred followers, who came armed to fight with friendless Susrava.
You protected Susrava with aid, and Tūrvayāṇa with your help, O Indra. You made Kutsa, Atithigva, Āyu, subject to this king, the young and mighty.
May we be your prosperous friends hereafter, O Indra, protected by the gods. We extol you, living long and joyfully with a store of
