Who now is he, what deity among the Immortals, whose auspicious name can we recall? Who will restore us to mighty Aditi so that I may behold my Father and Mother?

Agni, the God, the first among the Immortals—let us recall his auspicious name. He will restore us to mighty Aditi so that I may behold my Father and Mother.

To you, O Savitar, Lord of precious things, who helps us continually, For our share we come—

Wealth, highly praised before reproach has touched it, laid free from hate, In your hands, safe and sound.

May your protection bring us to even the height of prosperity That Bhaga has bestowed upon us.

No birds that soar through the air have reached your high domain, your might, or your spirit; Nor have the waters that flow forever, nor the hills, which curb the wind’s wild fury.

Varuṇa, King, of pure might, upholds the Tree’s trunk in the void. Its rays, whose roots are high, descend. May they sink deep within us and be concealed.

King Varuṇa has made a broad path, a path for the Sun to traverse. Where no way was made, he set his steps, warning off whatever afflicts the spirit.

A hundred balms are yours, O King, a thousand; also deep and wide-reaching are your favors. Drive far away destruction, far from us, and remove even the sin we’ve committed.

By day, where do the stars that shine at night depart, set high above us? Varuṇa’s holy laws remain unchanged, and the Moon moves on in splendor through the night.

I pray to you with my offering, my worshipper asks for this. Varuṇa, stay here and be not angry; take not our life, O Wide-Ruler.

Every night and every day, they tell me this, and my own thoughts repeat it. May he who is bound by Śunaḥśepa, may he Sovrant Varuṇa release us.

13

Bound by three pillars, Śunaḥśepa made his plea to the Ādityas. May Sovrant Varuṇa deliver him, wise and untricked, loosen the bonds that bind him.
