1

AGNI awakens: Surya rises from the earth. Great, radiant Dawn has shone with all her light. The Aśvins have prepared their chariot for the journey. God Savitar has brought the people together.

2

When, Aśvins, you prepare your very powerful chariot, pour out for us both honey and oil. Grant us victory in our devotion, might and strength in battle. May we gain wealth in the battles for spoils.

3

Near us come the Aśvins' praised three-wheeled chariot, the chariot laden with meath and drawn by swift horses, Three-seated, opulent, bestowing all joy. May it bring us well-being, to cattle and to men.

4

Bring us sustenance, Aśvins Two; sprinkle us with your whip that drips with honey. Extend our days of life, erase our sins; destroy our enemies, be our companions and friends.

5

You store the seed of life in female creatures, you lay it in all living beings. You sent forth, O Aśvins, mighty and passing, the fire, the rulers of the wood, the waters,

6

You are leeches with medicines to heal us, and charioteers with skill in driving. You Strong, give sway to him who offers sacrifice and with his heart pours out his gift before you.
