1

Agni, light the fire, for him who holds the ladle and pours the Soma. Twist the ancient thread for him who shares gifts and drinks the sacred drink.

2

You spread the sweet offering, rich with oil, brought by a singer like me, For you, dear sacrifice, with offerings and labor, we come to you.

3

Wondrous, sanctifying, bright, sprinkle the sacrifice with mead, Three times, Narāśaṁsa from the heavens, a God among the gods, adored.

4

Agni, beseeched, bring Indra the Friend, the Wonderful, For this my song of praise, oh sweet-tongued, let us offer to you.

5

Ladle holders scatter fragrant grass at this well-ordered sacrifice; A home for Indra, wide and fit, receives the gods with grace.

6

Open the Divine Doors, unending, that aid the ritual, High and purifying, much desired, so that the gods may enter in.

7

May Night and Morning, hymned with praises, fair to see, Strong mothers of the sacrifice, sit together on the grass.

8

May the Two Priests Divine, the wise, the sweet-voiced lovers of the hymn, Complete this sacrifice, effective, reaching heaven today.

9

May Hotrā pure, set among the gods, among the Maruts Bhāratī, Iḷā, Sarasvatī, Mahī, Rest on the grass, adorable, on the grass, adorable, on the grass.

10

May Tvaṣṭar send us generous dew, wondrous, rich in gifts, For growth and wealth, Tvaṣṭar our kin and friend, grant us this.

11

Vanaspati, give yourself and call the gods to sacrifice. May Agni, intelligent god, speed our offering to the gods.

12

To Vāyu joined with Pūṣan, with the Maruts, and all the gods, To Indra who inspires the hymn, glory! Present the gift.

13

Come here to enjoy the gifts, with glory's cry, Oh Indra, hear their call; they invite you to the sacrifice.
